Sharper

Hello, My Movievaures! I hope you had a great week. I’m back with a new movie review on the latest Mystery/Thriller of 2023: Sharper. You probably haven’t heard about it because it is distributed by Apple TV+ and we all know it is not the most trending platform, even though it is gaining subscribers. Anyways, I was curious about this one, mainly I saw Sebastian Stan on it and you know I am a huge fan. So, I gave it a try and… well… Let’s get to the non-spoilers pars before:

This mystery/thriller movie focuses on different characters, all connected by a mysterious con artist. As they get deep into the spiderweb of this scheming, they will see their lives turned upside down, relationships ruined and trust will be lost.

Well, let’s get straight to it: there is nothing astonishing about this movie. Is just another average entertainement and I couldn’t be more disappointed about that. The casting is actually great, and there are good plot ideas but overall I didn’t see anything that actually did surprised me.

This is a problem, because it is supposed to be a mystery and so foreseeing the end of it is a failure. I really wanted to like this move, and even though it wasn’t that bad, I was actually annoyed throughout it. Sebastian Stan and Julianne Moore were not as good as I thought they could be. It was like a deja vue of other characters they already played. Plus, to be honest, there was never a moment where I thought there was a real stake for any of the characters.

In short, Sharper is just an average thriller. Something you can watch on a plane to pass time. Other than that, I would not waste too much time on it. Not the worst but far from being the best. Well, this is all for today My Movievaures! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below and I’ll be back next week with a new article. In the meantime, feel free to follow me on Instagram! See you soon!
