After  my reviews, I’ve curated a list of my top five films that left a lasting impression. Let’s dive into these standout movies that made 2024 a remarkable year for cinema.

1. The Wild Robot

Non-Spoiler Summary: “The Wild Robot” tells the story of Roz, a futuristic robo-assistant who washes up on an isolated island inhabited by animals. Initially met with hostility, Roz endeavors to understand the island’s inhabitants and ends up caring for a baby bird, leading to a touching narrative about parenting and adoption.

Personal Opinion: This film was a wildly good time! I got an early look at this incredible adaptation, and it absolutely delivers on the heart, humor, and adventure. From pitch-perfect performances to the gorgeous art style, “The Wild Robot” works on every level. You will laugh, you will cry, and leave completely satisfied. It’s easily one of the best animated movies in recent memory, and one of the best movies of the year.

2. The Count of Monte Cristo

Non-Spoiler Summary: This adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’s classic novel follows Edmond Dantès, a sailor falsely accused of treason by his best friend Fernand, who desires Dantès’ fiancée, Mercedes, for himself. Imprisoned on the island fortress of Château d’If, Dantès plots his escape and meticulously plans his revenge against those who betrayed him.

Personal Opinion: A rollicking good adventure that captures the essence of Dumas’s tale. The film’s pacing keeps you engaged, and the performances bring depth to the classic characters. It’s a reminder of Hollywood’s capability to produce grand, period action-adventures that resonate with timeless themes of betrayal and redemption.

3. Furiosa

Non-Spoiler Summary: A prequel to “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Furiosa” delves into the backstory of Imperator Furiosa. Kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers, she falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by Immortan Joe. As Furiosa plots her escape, she musters the strength to survive the harsh desert and the tyrants who inhabit it.

Personal Opinion: An exhilarating ride from start to finish! The film expands on the “Mad Max” universe, providing depth to Furiosa’s character. The action sequences are intense, and the world-building is as immersive as ever. A must-watch for fans of the franchise and newcomers alike.

4. Alien: Romulus

5. Rebel Ridge
