Hello, My Movievaures! I hope you had a good week. FI-NA-LLY, today I’ll be writing about a 2023 show! I know, it has been a while since I released an article about new content, but here I am. Okay… It is not about the most famous show at the start of the year, but still, it is worth your time. So keep reading to check out The Snow Girl review, Netflix’s latest Spanish Thriller. You know the drill now, let’s get to the non-spoilers part:
When Amaya disappears during a parade in Malaga, the Martín Family’s world is turned upside down. As the police struggle to find any clues about the little girl vanishing in front of hundreds of people, Miren, a trainee journalist with a dark past will do everything she can to find Amaya.
When I first heard bout this show I knew I was going to like it, but not because I expected it to be great, but mainly as simple entertainment. I like dark, mysterious stories so I was a good target. However, I was surprised about how I enjoyed this thriller. Of course, it incorporates the same codes as any simple thriller: the tortured journalist/detective, the mourning parents, and the last-minute twists. Is not like I ever thought: this is a game changer.
None of the less, it was interesting to see that some of the simple plot paths were not taken and that they decided to tell something we’ve already seen differently. The time lapses are well utilized and allow us to overview an interesting character development. On another note, making the bad guys so hopeless and endearing was a smart move, even though not the most original. But we saw enough darkness with Miren’s assault and the organization she is trying to bring down.
In short, The Snow Girl is a good Spanish thriller that deserves a good review. It is not the most outstanding out there, but you can see there was effort put into this show, not only in the acting but also in the plot and dialogue. It is good to see good foreign content and I’m wondering when French Netflix will meet our expectations this way. This is all for today My Movievaures! Let me know in the comments down below or on Instagram our thoughts on it! I’ll be back next week for more, so stay tuned!
