The Umbrella Academy – Season 3

Hello, My Movievaures! I hope you had an amazing week. I’m back with a new review on one of my favorite TV shows: The Umbrella Academy. Season 3 was released on June 22nd and I binged-watched it as hell. I’ve written other articles on Season 1 & 2 so you can check them out before reading this one, especially because I will straight to the spoilers part. So, here we go! Of course, SPOILERS AHEAD!

We found our favorite family of superheroes after another jump in time and space to the present after averting doomsday in Dallas during season 2. They are back at the Umbrella Academy or what they think is their home when suddenly they meet with their father who is not dead, and a group of other super-heroes who called themselves the Sparrow Academy.

At first, I thought it was going to be all, and it should have been enough. A plot around this new Sup family could have been amazing. Unfortunately, the writers decided to get back to the old “end of the world” storyline. Yes, a THIRD time. Anyways, it was a bit annoying to get back to this level of urgency, without letting enough time in this season for true character development. Especially when it gets to the Sparrow family. There is not much to say about them other than being annoying as hell. Yes, even Ben.

None of the less, there are still a lot of things a loved about this new season. Mainly, everything that I already loved: the crazy aesthetics, the amazing music and how it is integrated into the scenes, the main family (Number five, you are great!), and how they interact with each other; their love & hate relationship, the huge sarcasm and the f****d situations where they all found themselves in.

I would say that I enjoy this season, but there is a sense of unfinished business. The ending was too abrupt and it almost feels like a mid-season finale than a real conclusion. There are still many things we didn’t have any explanation about: what about their father being an alien? Where is Sloane? Why is Allison still hurt when she is reunited with her family and not the others? Why did Five create the Commission? And just, what the hell happened at the end?

Anyways, this is all for today My Movievaures! Let me know your thoughts on this new and maybe last season of The Umbrella Academy. I’ll be back next week with a new article on a very expected movie (bets are on)! In the meantime, follow me on Instagram (the_movievaures) for more news!
