Hello My Movievaures, I hope you had a good start to the week! I’m back with a new Netflix TV Show who actually surprised me as it was absolutely not what I was expecting it to be: The woman in the house across the street. This 2022 show brings back to life the meaning of parody which I didn’t know I needed, but I absolutely loved. Let’s get into more details!

The Woman in the house across the street (or TWITHATSFTGITW) follows Anna, a heartbroken artist who lost her daughter which lead to her marriage ending. As she grieves and refuses to move forward, living constantly in made-up scenarios, she meets her new neighbor and daughter who bring some hope in her sad life. As she finally sees the end of the tunnel everything will be turned upside down again when she witnesses a murder, or what her imagination believes it is.

If you’ve watched or read The Woman in the window or The girl on the train, this show will look so familiar and it’s hilarious. Of course, this is a huge parody of both stories and all kind of mystery plots based on a similar narrative. In TWITHATSFTGITW they took all the elements of the white rich woman suffering from a trauma and getting obsessed by a mystery murder. It is hilarious how the actors play their roles so seriously, while getting involved into absurd situations and cliché dialogues. I particularly loved the ombrophobia and casseroles bit!

In short, this show is funny as hell and I understand now why Kristen Bell was praised on her role. It shows all the plot shortcuts these types of movies/shows can have, pointing out also the bad dialogues and character development. It is done sometimes in such a subtle way it is even more funny. The acting is actually pretty good, as they pretend this is a serious story. It must have been very difficult not to laugh at every scene. I truly recommend these series, you’ll probably finish it very quick !

This is all for today My Movievaures! I hope you enjoyed this article and let me know in the comments down below if you watched the show after reading this article. In the meantime, don’t forget to follow me on Instagram for more short reviews and news. I’ll see you on Sunday!
