Thunder Force: an uninhibited crap

Hello My Movievaures! I hope you had an amazing week. I’m back and excited with a new article on one of the worst movies I watched this year: Thunder Force. I know it sounds weird to say that I’m “excited” to write about a crappy movie, but honestly I laughed so much at the absurdity of this one that I could only be on a good mindset while telling you more about it. On top of that, the weather is great here in Paris so… Let’s get into it!

Melissa McCarthy's Thunder Force Reviews Have Arrived, Here's What Critics Are Saying About The Netflix Movie - CINEMABLEND

Thunder Force is the story of two childhood friends, Lydia and Emily who will reunite after years of not talking to each other, and become a duo of superheroes that will fights against “Miscreants” (aka Sociopaths and Criminals who got their powers after the 1983 cosmic-ray blast). Emily, is a brilliant woman who devoted most of her life to fight against this Miscreants, as one of them was responsible of her parents’ death. Lydia, on the other side, is not the smartest but the funniest, with a straightforward personality but with a big lack of confidence and as only desire: have a best friend.

What can I say? Of course, the plot is neither amazing nor original. But this movie is supposed to be a super hero comedy and not an award winning film, with a profound message. However, even for a comedy, Thunder Force, this movie is ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong, I laughed, but mostly because I felt uncomfortable by the jokes and absurdity of the situation.

Thunder Force Reviews - Metacritic

Fortunately for the viewers, there are some talented actors like Jason Bateman and Bobby Cannavale that bring some fun to 95% of bad jokes, awful action scenes and very cringe situations. None of the less, nothing could save Thunder Force from its catastrophic destiny of getting into 2021 list of “worst movies of the year”.

In short, Thunder Force is such a bad movie that you can actually have a good laugh if you don’t take it too seriously. The dialogues are awful and uncomfortably cringe. The jokes… I don’t even want to talk about it. It can be an agony for those who are looking for a good comedy, but I was in a good mood and just wanted to empty my brain, so this awful movie was perfect.
